1) HOW YOU CAN HELP MAKE THE WORLD A SAFER PLACE
The astonishing comments by two UK army majors serving in
Afghanistan, that the war is lost and politicians are "trading
soldiers' lives for votes", only reflects the views of most
people in this country (SEE: http://bit.ly/Ifl4L1).
The government is continuing to wage the war knowing that the
overwhelming majority of people in Britain want the troops
brought home now.
In addition, the government is pressing for increased Western
intervention in Syria -- almost certainly as a stepping stone to
a military attack on Iran.
David Cameron is clearly no different from Tony Blair in his
slavish support for America's wars without end.
These war policies are making the world ever more insecure and
unstable. It is more necessary than ever for the anti-war
movement to mobilise the widest possible active opposition to the
warmongering of our political leaders.
We have much work to do, and below is an appeal for your help to
achieve this, from Jeremy Corbyn MP, the national chair of Stop
the War, and Lindsey German, our national convenor,

2) MESSAGE FROM JEREMY CORBYN MP AND LINDSEY GERMAN
Dear Stop the War supporter,
There is a clear danger of further wars in the Middle East
region, not least in the intensification of the threats against
Iran.
The NATO leaders refuse to admit that their occupation in
Afghanistan is in terminal crisis. Recent polls show that most
people in Britain do not understand the purpose of the war, think
its unwinnable, and want the troops brought home now.
It is essential that we maintain the campaign to make our
political leaders reflect the views of the overwhelming majority
in this country that opposes the war policies of our government.
We urgently need your help to do this.
There are many ways you can get involved, but most urgently at
present we need to raise our funding for future activities, such
as our NO TO NATO protest on Saturday 19 May. We also need to
take on more staff in our national office so we can be as
effective as possible in our work.
We have set a target of £20,000 to reach these objectives and we
hope you will be able to make a contribution.
If you are a supporter of Stop the War who has donated in the
past, we urge you to consider taking out a membership, which
costs just a few pounds a month -- please give more if you can
afford it. JOIN STOP THE WAR HERE: http://bit.ly/IjsLPu
For supporters or current members who want to make an extra
financial commitment to our campaign, we have introduced a Friend
of Stop the War membership. This gives a host of benefits for
anyone paying a minimum of £10 per month. BECOME A FRIEND OF STOP
THE WAR HERE: http://bit.ly/IjsOen
If you would rather help our campaign by making a donation, you

Yours with thanks,
