Peace Poet Luke Nephew: “There’s a Man Under that Hood!”

By BillyClub - Posted on 12 January 2011

On Jan. 11, 2011, outside the U.S. Justice Department in Washington, D.C., Peace Poet Luke Nephew recited his poem, “There’s a Man Under that Hood!” The demonstration was directed at Closing Gitmo and ending torture. To learn more, go to: WitnessTorture.

Of course there should never be any hoods keeping people disoriented and afraid. But it would appear that we have a large percentage of our country under a hood of misinformation. Their freedom is something of a lie. But it is a comfortable lie -- except when Luke stands up and speaks truth to power with a backdrop of courageous individuals who stand for justice.

In a perfect world we would not deny animals their natural freedom of movement and life just because we think they were born to be our dinner. Humans should have better moral sense than animals but often it appears they do not.
