Northampton, Mass., Passes Bring-Our-War-$-Home Resolution

By davidswanson - Posted on 18 September 2010

The Alliance for Peace and Justice is making headway in our "Bring Our War $$ Home" campaign. The city council of Northampton, MA just passed the resolution calling for no more funding for the war, bringing our troops home and using some of the war money to create jobs, support education and to also help support all the veterans of the wars in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Iraq.

Large towns and cities need to do what Northampton has just done. And I am not sure, but I don't think small towns like Northampton will be of serious influence on large towns and cities.

It's a voice and the decision is right though. There's nothing to mock about it. It's to be welcomed, and, hopefully, more towns will do this. If the decision in Northampton helps to influence western Massachusetts towns to do the same thing, then this spread or expansion will have greater voice and potential to influence or inspire others. And I guess that Northampton's decision has potential in this respect. Springfield doing this would be helpful.

And I wonder if any other towns in western Mass. had already done this.
