Kucinich Challenges New Legislation to Name New Park after Manhattan Project

Washington D.C. (June 15, 2012) – Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today vowed to oppose efforts to create a new Manhattan Project National Historical Park. Kucinich has instead called upon Congress name a park dedicated to Japanese-American friendship.

“The bond between the Japanese and American people is great. We stand with our Japanese brothers in sisters in peace and dedicate ourselves so that the violence of nuclear weapons will never be visited upon any people or any nation ever again.

“Instead of honoring violence and death, we should consult with the Japanese to create a proposal that shows respect for the devastating violence wrought by these bombs upon the Japanese people and strengthens the friendship between our peoples,” said Kucinich.
