It's time to organize a global movement to stop the illegal use of drones for killing abroad and spying at home.
CODEPINK, The Nation Magazine, Institute for Policy Studies and the Center for Constitutional Rights invite you to an International Drone Summit titled “Drones Around the Globe: Proliferation and Resistance” in Washington, DC from November 16-17 at the Georgetown University Law Center.
We are bringing together drone survivors from Pakistan,Yemen and Afghanistan, human rights advocates, lawyers, authors, artists and musicians, and grassroots activists for a weekend of educating and organizing.
Speakers include Dr. Cornel West, international law expert Mary Ellen O'Connell, author of Drone Warfare Medea Benjamin, Pakistani drone victim attorney Shahzad Akbar, Afghan women's rights advocates Fahima Vorgetts Retired Colonel Ann Wright, UK/Europe drone expert Chris Cole, British scientist Noel Sharkey, inventor of Dronestream Josh Begley and Pakistani filmmaker Madiha Tahir. Workshops include topics such as passing local legislation, social media training, student organizing and creative resistance. Evening events include film screenings, art shows and music.
The day before the Summit, November 15th, join us for a march from the White House to the headquarters of drone maker General Atomics. After the Summit, on November 18th, we will lobby members of Congress to push for legislation regulating the use of killer drones and domestic spy drones.
