Bloomberg's Seventh Largest Army in the World
“I have my own army in the NYPD, which is the seventh biggest army in the world,” Bloomberg said, according to the New York Observer.
Is that by dollars spent or personnel employed or did Bloomberg just make it up? Is it militaries or just armies?
Has anyone ranked militaries of the world and included mercenary companies and police forces to create a complete ranking?
Wikipedia has national militaries by dollars spent here.
How interesting if our national military and one of our local police forces are BOTH bigger than any potential enemy out in the world.
Alas, that does not seem to be obviously true.
NYC has a budget of about $67 billion, but Bloomberg's army gets additional billions from banksters. Still, it seems unlikely this is a plausible claim about dollar rankings. In fact NYPD's budget of about $4 billion keeps it out of the top 40 militaries if not armies, and even if the budget is tripled by the banksters NY's finest barely make the top 20. Maybe there are CIA and Homeland Security resources that need to be added in, but we're still not in the same league as the Pentagons $700 billion or the U.S. government's overall $1.2 trillion.
NYPD's staff of 40,000 also does not seem to make the rankings.
What is Bloomberg blathering about?
