This beautiful video created by Jim T in San Diego. We were both part of the protest in So Cal on this day 10 years ago. Jim has supplied a sound track and included photos from every major city on the planet from that day.
We are all pebbles that form the rock - inspiration from a brave woman on the 8th anniversary of the Iraq invasion

A timely item came across my desk yesterday from my great friend Jacqui of Maine (my "angel in disguise") who shared with me the story of a wonderful strong woman named Carole Whelan. Carole Whelan stood up yesterday at an event to Honor Senator Susan Collins (where she was inducted into the Maine Women's Hall of Fame) and spoke out to request that such an honor be declined until all of our troops are home.
Is activism on the way back in vogue? We were vibrant and healthy during the Bush years. Then, with the election of Barack Obama, everything changed. Things we railed against suddenly became acceptable. It became unamerican to criticize Mr President. The antiwar community allowed Mr President to institutionalize the crimes of the Bush years. When IVAW did Winter Soldier testimonies in Pasadena, I offered free rides (11/2 hr drive) and only one person responded out of 400. Vets for Peace have been strong and constant. Pockets of resistance pop up here and there. Minneapolis, Dallas, Chicago, San Francisco, La, Portland. We approach the March 19 th date of SHOCKNAWE once again. The wars rage on in Iraq and Afghanistan/Pakistan. There will be a big protest in DC. Do you wish you could go but don't have the time or can't get arrested? I could go and would go and be your proxy but do not have airfare. Every body counts.
